Hawzah News Agency- (Damascus, Syria) – The Syrian ministry of endowments in cooperation with Iranian Cultural Representative in Damascus organized the first international conference on unity among divine religions and its influence on world peace in which numerous Muslim and Christian scholars from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq as well as Iran took part.
Syria’s Minister of Awqaf (Endowments), Dr. Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed, was the key note speaker of the event; he asserted, “Divine religions have been revealed to promote humanities and human values; Syria is a great place to see the unity and friendship among different divine religions, we can see this friendship in Mosques and Churches in Syria where Muslims and Christians are living together peacefully.”
He added, “Holding such conferences in Damascus which is considered as the capital of Islamic Resistance sends out the message of unity among religions and shows the world religions’ shared purpose in fighting the Zionist regime,”
Another main speaker of the conference was Bishop Nakoula Baalbaki of the Orthodox church in Eastern Rome; he emphasized concepts such as brotherhood, kindness and peace which are shared among different monotheistic religions saying, “true peace and compassion cannot be realized by mere avoidance of violence and warfare, rather peace is something that comes from the heart, it removes grudges and hostility from the human spirit only to replace it with friendship and kindness.”
